This study aims to evaluate the practice teaching experience of EFL teacher Education. It
attempts to address the problems and challenges that student teachers face during their
teaching practice. Teaching EFL is not an easy task and can be very demanding for teachers
because its application usually entails things such as: planning, acting, observing and
reflecting. But one of the necessary or indispensible phases in teacher preparation and
education programs is the practice teaching phase in which the student teachers practice
teaching in real classroom settings. Practice teaching is identified as key requirement of
producing qualified teachers. Student teachers are usually sent to school in the fourth year of
study at the university. There are few studies, if any, in Iraq about the topic above. The study
aims to address the following questions:
1. What are the problems or challenges that student teachers face during practice teaching?
2. What are the perceptions of student teachers, college supervisors, cooperating teachers and
schools principals towards the process of practice teaching?
3. What do these groups think should be done to improve the quality of practice teaching?
4. The tools of research used in this study are: questionnaires, classroom observation, and
