Background: The emergence of smart buildings,
heavily affected by Internet of Things (IoT) devices and
technology, creates a need for increased security solutions. The
vulnerability of large structures to security breaches has become a
significant worry as they grow increasingly linked.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the efficacy of
combining Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) with
fingerprint technology to improve security in smart buildings. The
final objective is to create a solid RFID-based fingerprint-building
lock mechanism to provide more security.
Methods: A two-pronged research strategy was used to assess
the effectiveness of the suggested security solution. Initially, a
comprehensive literature review was conducted in order to have a
better understanding of the current state of intelligent building
security. Subsequently, a detailed examination of an intelligent
building incorporating RFID and fingerprint technology offered
pragmatic observations regarding their implementation and
benefits.
Results: The case study findings indicate a significant increase
in security levels after integrating RFID and fingerprint systems,
with a significant decrease in security breach incidences. When
coupled with these technologies, they provide improved
authentication and greatly minimize the possibility of unwanted
access.
Conclusion: There is a possible route for fortifying security
measures in smart buildings by combining RFID and fingerprint
technology. Such integrated techniques improve the safety of
building occupants and contribute to protecting building assets,
indicating a watershed moment in the field of intelligent building
